Name:
John Garrison
Where do you live?
Cohasset, Minnesota
What made you decide to start running?
I like to set goals for myself, and I appreciate the mental and physical health benifits of running.
Is there anything that sets you apart from other runners?
I fuel myself with plant-based foods.
What keeps you motivated?
I am internally motivated. I love to see what my body is capable of doing.
Do you have a favorite race length?
If you could run with anyone (living/dead), who would it be?
Barefoot Ted or Rich Roll
What is your all-time favorite race? Why?
I just ran, and won, the Bigfork Valley Challenge Half-Marathon last weekend. It’s always fun to win a race.
Do you have a favorite pre-race food?
Banana’s and Cranberry juice.
Post-race food?
A lentil based soup (for the protein).
What piece of running gear could you not possibly live without?
I like to run in Shorts or Pants… It’s hard to run in blue jeans, and running naked in public is frowned upon.
What do you tell yourself when you are struggling?
The faster I go the sooner I’ll be done.
Do you have any current goals? Races?
Next summer I hope to do a 50 mile trail run, and I am running the Twin Cities Marathon in a couple weeks.
What advice would you give to someone who’s new to running?
To get educated on running by asking questions, reading books, and utilizing the internet.
