Runner of the Week Kat Peterson

kat peterson runner of the week

Please welcome our Runner of the Week – Kat Peterson from up north in Toronto, Canada. Kat prides herself as a Digital and eComm junky, runner, triathlete and lover of decadent eats. Check out her story below and show this runner some love!

So what got you interested in running?

I really wanted to finish a half-marathon.

Is there anything that sets you apart from other runners?

Neon gear and hash tags along the way?

What keeps you motivated?

I need to set race goals or I will hang up my shoes.

Do you have a favorite race length?

10k

If you could run with anyone (living/dead), who would it be?

I would LOVE it if my mum took up running.

What is your all-time favorite race? Why?

I ran the Toronto Half with my since passed step-father, it was my first long race and he let me leave him for the last 5km to make a pace goal.

Do you have a favorite pre-race food?

Coffee and anxiety (is anxiety a food, it seems to turn to adrenaline?)

Post-race food?

Beer and burger!

What piece of running gear could you not possibly live without?

Nike running app.

What do you tell yourself when you are struggling?

I don’t tell myself anything, I let the music do the talking, but when I’m ready to slow down I scramble for the next pick-me-up song.

Do you have any current goals? Races?

I would love to complete an Olympic Triathlon this summer in Ontario and a half marathon in the Bahamas or Florida this winter.

What advice would you give to someone who’s new to running?

Get over the hump, it only hurts till it doesn’t.
